Entries

Entries are 40EUR per cider, with a maximum of 5 entries per producer. This is due to time and available judges and will hopefully encourage entrants to think about which ciders should be entered. We are also judging amateur "homebrewed" ciders alongside the professional entries. These may be entered at a reduced rate of 6EUR per cider with a maximum of 3 entries per person. A discount code is available in this case, please contact the competition organiser. Any additional entries will not be accepted and refunded in full. Additional submitted bottles will not be returned.

Categories

Whilst we may use BJCP style guidelines as a starting point the ciders will neither be judged nor scored according to them. We believe this would be too constrictive to the nascent cider scene, cause un-necessary debate and just altogether too detailed for what we are trying to achieve. For this reason we've reduced the categories to 5, hopefully self explanatory categories:

Dry - any cider fermented to dryness which hasn't been backsweetened by either juice or sweetener (Artificial or natural) without any other additions or treatments.

Non-dry - any other without additions or treatments

Perry - Any perry made from perry pears

Fruited - any cider with the addition of fruit/ extract pre or post fermentation. A small amount of supplementary herb/ spice (e.g., ginger/ vanilla) is permissible if secondary to the added fruit. Elderflower shold be considered as a fruit for the purposes of the competition. Please state fruit(s) used and whether in whole, juice, extract or artificial form.

Speciality -  any cider containing ingredients not covered by the above including but not limited to dry-hopped, grogged, barrel aged, mulled. Please specify any additional treatments and ingredients.

If you have any questions on the above categories please contact the competition organiser via the Contact page.
