How many Irish breweries in planning phase?

Want some information on a favourite craft beer or want to share your own thoughts with the community? This is the place to do it.

There are so many threads about new breweries launching, I'm losing track. And losing count - I hear 10 in planning, but I'm not sure where that number comes from.

Can we put a little list together?

    Limerick Lady, Limerick
    Mountain Man, Cork
    Holy Mountain, Mayo
    Reel Deel, Mayo

Anybody want to add?

Brown Paper Bag? They were painting something lately on their twitter feed?

There is one being built it Clifden:

I know of another few being planned in kinsale, tuam & dublin but don't think they are ready to go just yet and am unsure if I have the right names for them!

There's also a prospective one in Wexford but I don't know how far it's progressed.

Then there's the Boyne Valley Brewery, they should be ready to launch soon.

Good stuff! So far we've got:

Limerick Lady, Limerick
Mountain Man, Cork
Holy Mountain, Mayo
Reel Deel, Mayo
Elbow Lane, Cork
Baile Ale, Tipperary
7 Windows, Cork
Bridewell, Galway

Brown Paper Bag Project is a cuckoo for the moment, so I'm not sure whether to count them.

Any ideas about complete failures from start up in the last 5 years? Kinda curious based on 20 odd thriving how many didn't make it and is the market ready to receive that number of new entrants :?:

AFAIK the only producers to have ceased in the lifetime of this website are Beamish and Biddy Early, assuming Messrs Maguire doesn't count.

Why wouldn't they count?

My new buddy Sarah from Tuam, on here recently, the other two I can't say too much about as I'm not sure!

Their demise was more linked to their owner's financial failings. Although I suppose you could argue they failed miserably to market themselves as a brewery.

regarding closures.... Kinsale lager brewery closed up around 2007/2008, so not sure if that comes under the lifetime of Beoir

'Cos they're still going, albeit under new owners and a different name.

I think Kinsale had ceased production by the time this site started, though the lager was still being produced at Beamish.

Oh, and Celtic Brew were still going, making lager for Mao and Monty's. That stopped about 2008.
