Nice article, it deserved an email.

Perhaps a few other members might wish to send a similar email?

Good evening,
Can I refer you to Tuesday's article on Beoir: (http://www.beoir.org/index.php?option=c ... &Itemid=99)

I'm just wondering why there is still no category for best beer experience?
Surely as the number one alcoholic drink on the planet, the third most consumed beverage after water and tea is more than deserving of a category of its own? In years gone by, restaurants paid scant attention to their beer list but that has changed for the better in recent years.
A specific category for best beer experience can only improve overall restaurant quality when it comes to beer selection.

As a beer lover, I pick my restaurants based on beer availability whenever possible. If there was a best beer experience category, it might prompt lazy and ignorant restaurants to take notice and treat beer as they do wine. Include beer pairing ideas for their dishes and even tasting notes. This can only enhance the dining experience. There are many beers available in 750ml bottles which are perfect for sharing at the dinner table, even from some Irish breweries.

Beer is in need of some respect, for too long has the image of beer been watered down with a picture of pale, yellow, tasteless fizzy liquid. Beer is in fact the most important drink in the history of the planet and one of the primary driving forces of the dawn of civilisation.

Thank you for reading and congratulations, many of the winners are well deserving of the award.

I'm friends with Padraic Óg who's president if you want me to have a word.

I do know he's big into all things Irish and also is into the craft beer thing, in fact at one point he wanted me to hook him up with someone to contract brew for his place the boxty house.
