Thought it was nice enough, but more a pale ale than an IPA. I also notice that the ABV of the Well's specials (and I assume the cost of excise and materials) has decreased with each release whereas the price has not.

A bit harsh I would think. Not the only products with set point pricing systems, I think it's fairly reasonable.

In case anybody is wondering, its not an American style IPA, i was wondering how it would compare to these before I tasted it. Picked mine up in B&C today after a lovely lunch (thanks to Geoff and his staff for getting us a seat so quickly, and 2 buggies). I think its more like an English IPA/Ale. Enjoyed it this evening, but probably wouldn't pay 12euro for another one. I'm STILL waiting for an Irish brewery to do a good American IPA....

Have you tried Messrs Pale Ale? It's not bad.

No , not their latest, had it last year and it was nice , but to be honest its not in the American's league for flavour, to me anyway, will try it at Easterfest again though.

I don't intend to be harsh - I've been drinking in the Well since 2002 and I wish them the very best in all their endeavours. I'm genuinely supportive of, and excited by their forays into bottled beers. However, 10 euros is a "big beer" price point, and one I thought was justifiable for Century Stout. I feel at that at a "big beer" price point 5.9% is probably the limit of what's acceptable.

Having said that I liked this beer and I really enjoyed being able to drink a pint of Franciscan Well beer (not something you'd have done with Century Stout) at home.
