Good beer in cans - Where and what? 12 years 2 days ago #7

4 cans of LP works out less than €7... 4 cans of Punk works out at €6. And clubcard points too!

I feel a trip to NI coming on.

No chance of bottling some of your own in pet bottles?

[quote:26njax1z]Warka is actually not a bad Vienna(ish) lager.[/quote:26njax1z]

You reckon? Last time I've tried it was a general, if not slightly sweeter, Polish macro lager.

(it used to be my favorite stuff to get drunk with in college before I've discovered beer <!-- s:-P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":-P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:-P -->)

4 cans of LP is €8 in drinkstore so you'd need to be buying a lot of it to break even on a trip...depending on your own location of course. From Dublin I couldn't justify a beer trip but will usually stock up if north of the border for some other reason.

Round trip of 150 miles at 35 mpg = €32 in fuel alone.

There's bigger savings on other beers but when it comes to beer you need to buy an awful lot to justify the trip. The savings on spirits are probably bigger. Wine seems to be as cheap here.

I know what you're saying, although with the drinkstore I'd have to factor in delivery too, as parking up around there can be nuts (although since the recession started it might have eased).

I wouldn't go to NI without stocking up on stuff that's a lot cheaper up there. E.g. I usually come home with a year's supply of razor blades and other toiletries.
