Heineken here is a separate operation to the UK (brewed here, from Irish malt vs brewed in Holland for the UK), so interesting how dropping them in the UK will have absolutely no effect on the Irish operation. Except getting them all sacked.[/quote:1rpoexj2]

Are the bottles not imported?

Could be, but point is none of the Irish stuff ends up in the UK market (afaik).

I would have thought the assurances they were looking for were on retail price, and didn't have anything to do with the wholesale side of things.

i.e. it sounds to me like Heineken were trying to get them to agree to not sell below cost or something similar.

The BBC has more on the personal guarantee here[/url:3l0jp48d].
[quote:3l0jp48d]The row in Ireland came to a head when Heineken requested Wetherspoon chief executive John Hutson give personal guarantees to pay all Heineken bills if Wetherspoon did not pay them, according to the pub chain.[/quote:3l0jp48d]

"Heineken requested Wetherspoon chief executive John Hutson give personal guarantees to pay all Heineken bills if Wetherspoon did not pay them, according to the pub chain."

Odd considering they are a very successful pub chain , 60 million in Heineken last year.

I wonder how much beer JDW where planning to get of Heineken?
