I have it in my head that an IPA should be around 6-7% and hopped to bejaysus. But thats probably just in my head <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

I'd have to agree but O'Haras Irish Pale Ale is 500ml and Sierra Nevada is 330ml but both are the same price. When I have that choice I tend to go for quantity over quality.

I would have had them as different styles of beer but now you mention it I'm curious as to how they stack up. Ah well, there's nothing for it but to get a bottle of each and do a side-by-side comparison. Damn!

Yeah but you don't see many English IPA's at that strength or hopped to bejaysus.

The Irish Pale Ale is really a light version of the APA.

Very light. I'd chose an APA over an IPA but when it comes to a Friday and you have the thirst, I'd go for a few big bottles of IPA to save on cost!

Have made a batch of APA and cant wait to get stuck into it.

When I first discovered these in the Aldi on Parnell St, I didn't hold out much hope. On sinking them, however, I felt as if I'd just struck gold given the price. A very nice traditional Irish ale and a lovely stout. I just assumed them to be Carlow.
