Not too difficult to do given that the App uses the information from the directory here to create its map. The only thing I'd be concerned about is Google's recent announcement that they will be looking to charge for Google Map usage shortly.

Ooo, scary. Does Open Streetmap have a similar sort of API, do you know?

Google will be looking to charge once you go beyond a certain number of page loads. That number is pretty huge: 25,000 a day.

OSM is great, but there are huge gaps in it.

Where was that?

Bing and Google generally (Ireland is the exception) get mapping data from state agencies, either directly, or indirectly. So if an entire town was missing it must have been in somewhere like Libya or Iran? Or I suppose it could have been Longford either? <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

The problem there is that Google have not quantified what constitutes a 'Page Load'. Those of us in the community understand that the 25,000 does not mean 25,000 visitors to your site. The worry is that a page load could increment every time someone moves around the map (or zooms) meaning that new tiles are loaded. Site's with interesting and widely geolocated information could quickly find themselves over the limit.

As for OSM, it's getting there but it's not there yet. It's a pity that the OSi won't release their digital data.
