We have an interesting drink over here that got me thinking. It's called Apple Ale and it's made by Redd's, though there may be other makers of similar products.

What it is is a fermented ale that has then been sweetened and flavoured with apple flavourings to produce something in the same league as Orchard Thieves and copy cat products, but far less sweet, and therefore a lot more palatable. While I wouldn't drink much of it I would drink it before OT or the copy cats (which I wouldn't drink at all).

What's interesting about it is it's an ale, therefore it qualifies for the duty rebate. I'm surprised no-one has thought of this in Ireland.
